I started my own practice because I enjoy solving people's problems, especially the ones that are still years down the road. Families facing these decisions deserve to work with one person who knows them and their situation. When you call, you reach me. When there's a question, I answer it.
Estate planning, probate and elder law are personal. People come to me after a diagnosis, after a death in the family, or because they finally want peace of mind about what happens next. My job is to make the law clear, make the process manageable and make sure the plan actually works when your family needs it. I want you to walk away able to sleep at night, knowing there is a plan in place.
A different path to the law
Jonathan spent more than a decade in financial services, including founding Covenant Insurance Solutions, where he advised families and business owners on wealth preservation, retirement planning and business succession. He saw firsthand how often a good financial plan failed because the legal documents behind it were missing or out of date. Seeing that need from the financial side is what drew him to estate planning.
He earned his law degree from Texas A&M University School of Law in 2017, was licensed in Texas in 2018 and practices through Jonathan D. Berry, PLLC. In 2022 he joined a Fort Worth trust company, where he most recently served as Market President, leading fiduciary services and business development. Working from the trustee's side of the table, he saw what practically works in a trust and what doesn't.
In law school he worked as a legal intern at Paup, Shutt and Associates, helping with estate inventories, estate tax returns, guardianship accountings and probate documents. He brings the legal and the financial experience together for each family he serves.
What that means for you
- Plans designed around the assets you actually own: retirement accounts, real estate, business interests, life insurance.
- Clear coordination with your financial advisor, CPA or trust officer, without the jargon.
- Trusts drafted with administration in mind, so your successor trustee isn't left guessing.
- One attorney who handles your matter from start to finish.
Serving Fort Worth
Jonathan's community work centers on the same families his practice serves. He serves on the board of the James L. West Center for Dementia Care, a Fort Worth nonprofit that offers residential care, day programs, home care and education for people affected by dementia. He has been a member of the Downtown Rotary Club of Fort Worth since 2018 (and a Rotarian since 2011), is a Paul Harris Fellow, and is a past president of the Fort Worth/Tarrant County A&M Club.
He has also served on the boards of Guardianship Services, Inc., which serves as guardian for Tarrant County adults who have no one else to step in, The Ladder Alliance, and the Fort Worth Public Library Foundation.
Outside the office
Jonathan and his wife moved back to Fort Worth in 2007 after graduating from Texas A&M, and Fort Worth is both their home and their community. They have three children under 12 who keep them busy. When they aren't busy with the kids, they bleed maroon and try to attend as many Texas A&M sporting events as they can. They also love to volunteer, be involved in their church congregation, golf, fish, hunt and travel.
