Revocable living trusts in Texas

A revocable living trust holds your property during your lifetime, under your control. If you become ill, your chosen successor steps in without a court. When you die, trust assets pass to your beneficiaries privately, without probate.

How it works

  1. Jonathan drafts the trust and a “pour-over” will that catches anything left outside it.
  2. You serve as trustee and keep full control. You can change or revoke the trust at any time.
  3. Your home, accounts and other assets are retitled into the trust. This step, called funding, is what makes the trust work.
  4. If you become incapacitated or die, your successor trustee manages and distributes the assets under your instructions.

What’s included in a trust-based plan

The trust, a pour-over will, financial and medical powers of attorney, a directive to physicians, HIPAA releases and help funding the trust.
